    कथा · STORY

The Aśvinī twins are the divine healers of the Ṛg-Veda, riding a golden chariot drawn by horses. They restore youth to the aged sage Cyavana, heal wounds on the battlefield, and bring swift solutions to seemingly impossible problems.

नक्षत्र-प्रश्नाः
What is my birth nakshatra (janma nakshatra)?
Your janma nakṣatra is the lunar mansion the Moon occupied at the exact moment of your birth. There are 27 nakṣatras (lunar mansions), each spanning 13°20′ of the ecliptic. Enter your birth date, time, and place in the finder below to compute it from Moon longitude accurate to within ~1 arc-minute of NASA/JPL Horizons.
How many nakshatras are there in Vedic astrology?
There are 27 primary nakṣatras in the Vedic lunar zodiac, each associated with a presiding deity, a Vedic lord-planet, and a gaṇa (Deva, Manuṣya, or Rākṣasa temperament). Each nakṣatra spans 13°20′ of the sidereal ecliptic. The system is codified in Bṛhat-Parāśara-Horā-Śāstra (BPHS) Ch. 14.
What is nakshatra pada?
Each nakṣatra is divided into four pādas (quarters) of 3°20′ each, totalling 108 pādas across the 27 nakṣatras — corresponding to the 108 navāṃśa divisions. The pāda determines the navāṃśa sign for the Moon and is used to refine daśā timing and marriage compatibility analysis.
What is the difference between janma nakshatra and rashi?
Janma nakṣatra is determined by the Moon's position within a specific 13°20′ arc; rāśi (Moon sign) is determined by which of the 12 zodiac signs (each 30°) the Moon occupies. A single rāśi contains 2.25 nakṣatras. Both are read from Moon longitude — the nakṣatra gives finer resolution and seeds the Vimśottarī daśā cycle.
