जैमिनि-मार्गःJaimini Path — The Parallel Tradition

Jaimini-mārga Six modules through the Upadeśa-sūtras of Maharṣi Jaimini — chara-kāraka theory, ārūḍha, cara-daśā, sthira-daśā, nārāyaṇa-daśā, and rāśi-dṛṣṭi. The terse-aphorism school that runs parallel to Pārāśara.

श्री-जैमिनये नमः · सूत्र-कारक-प्रदायिने।

Salutations to the revered Jaimini — bestower of the sūtra-kāraka system.

Jaimini's Upadeśa-sūtras are the second great pillar of classical jyotiṣa, alongside BPHS. The sūtras are extremely terse — nearly opaque without a teacher — but the techniques are powerful and complementary to Pārāśara's. This path traces six core Jaimini topics, each anchored to specific adhyāya-pāda sections.

  1. सप्तदश-कारकाःSaptadaśa-kārakāḥ

    Jaimini's Karaka Theory — 7 vs 8 Schools

Jaimini's Adhy. 1 · Pāda 1 — the chara-kāraka system, where the graha with the highest degree in any rāśi becomes the Ātma-kāraka, the next the Amātya-kāraka, and so on.

    TopicsChara-kāraka (movable kāraka) — assigned by degree-within-sign, NOT by natural rule · Ātma-kāraka (AK) — graha with highest degree in any rāśi · Amātya-kāraka (AmK), Bhrātṛ-kāraka (BK), Mātṛ-kāraka (MK), Putra-kāraka (PK), Jñāti-kāraka (JK), Dāra-kāraka (DK) — descending degree-order · 7-kāraka vs 8-kāraka schools — whether Rāhu is included · +1 more

  2. आरूढ-पद-व्यवस्थाĀrūḍha-pada-vyavasthā

    Ārūḍha — The Image-of-the-House System

Each bhāva has an ārūḍha-pada — a 'projected image' rāśi that represents how the bhāva manifests outwardly. The ārūḍha-lagna (AL) is the projected-self.

TopicsĀrūḍha computation rule — count from the bhāva to its lord, then count the same distance forward from the lord · Ārūḍha-lagna (AL) — projected self / public image (ārūḍha of the 1st) · Upapada-lagna (UL) — projected spouse-image (ārūḍha of the 12th) · Why projection — the difference between what a bhāva IS (graha-bala) and what it APPEARS-AS (ārūḍha) · +1 more

  3. चर-राशि-दशाCara-rāśi-daśā

    Cara-Rāśi-Daśā — Jaimini's Movable-Sign Daśā

Adhy. 3 · Pāda 1 — Cara-rāśi-daśā is a sign-based daśā (not nakṣatra-based). Each rāśi rules for years determined by counting to the lord's position.

    TopicsSign-based vs nakṣatra-based — Cara is sign-based, Vimśottarī is nakṣatra-based · Starting sign — lagna-rāśi · Duration rule — count to the lord-of-that-rāśi's position; subtract 1; that's the duration in years · Savya (clockwise) vs apasavya (anti-clockwise) — determined by lagna being odd-sign or even-sign · +1 more

  4. स्थिर-दशाSthira-daśā

    Sthira-Daśā — Fixed-Sign Periods

Adhy. 3 · Pāda 2 — Sthira-daśā uses fixed periods (7/8/9 years per sign) rather than computed periods. A coarser timing-frame than cara-daśā.

TopicsSthira ('fixed') — periods do not depend on chart-specific counting · Movable signs (cara) — 7 years per sign · Fixed signs (sthira) — 8 years per sign · Dual signs (dvi-svabhāva) — 9 years per sign · +1 more

  5. नारायण-दशाNārāyaṇa-daśā

    Nārāyaṇa-Daśā — Cara-Daśā for the Ārūḍha

An extension of cara-rāśi-daśā computed from the ārūḍha-lagna rather than the lagna. Used for analyzing how the projected-self evolves over time.

    TopicsNārāyaṇa-daśā — cara-daśā computation starting from ārūḍha-lagna · Why from AL — to time events of the 'projected-self' rather than the inner-self · Application — career-image, public-recognition events, social-evolution windows · Comparison with cara-rāśi-daśā from lagna

  6. राशि-दृष्टिRāśi-dṛṣṭi

    Rāśi-Dṛṣṭi — Jaimini's Sign-Aspect System

Jaimini's distinctive aspect-rule: rāśis (not grahas) aspect rāśis, with specific rules based on movability. A key interpretive supplement to graha-dṛṣṭi.

TopicsCara (movable) rāśis — Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn — aspect all fixed (sthira) signs except the adjacent one · Sthira (fixed) rāśis — Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius — aspect all movable (cara) signs except the adjacent one · Dvi-svabhāva (dual) rāśis — Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces — aspect the other three dual signs · Argalā — 'intervention' on a bhāva from the 2nd, 4th, 5th, 11th · +1 more
