Ayanāṃśa, compared
अयनांशः · ayanāṃśa — the angle between tropical zero and sidereal zero. Six conventions fix six different zero-dates; the table below shows what each implies at six anchor years, with the offset from the MK substrate shown beside every value.
षट्-सम्प्रदायाः · The six systems
each fixes a zero-date · then propagates precessionMK is the substrate-grounded system (Tier-S); the other five are tradition-bound conventions (Tier-W) — honoured as provenance, not asserted as derivation.

Across the 1900–2050 range all six systems agree to within ~2°. The dominant disagreement is between the Siddhāntic Pushyāmsa (mean rate 54″/y) and the modern Newcomb-rate systems (50.29″/y). MK uses the modern rate, anchored at a sovereign zero-date — not Swiss-derived.

प्रयोगः · Why the choice matters
one offset · three sensitivitiesAll Bharat Ephemeris charts use the MK (Mahā-Kāmākhyā) ayanāṃśa. To cross-reference a Lahiri-charted reading, apply the Δmk column above as a uniform offset.
Discipline · MK = sovereign substrate (Tier-S); the other five = tradition-bound (Tier-W). Compatibility cases apply the offset as a uniform shift; labels are provenance, not magic. Structure, not prediction.
